Low FODMAP at Port Orleans Riverside: Simple, Safe, and Still Magical

Staying at a Disney resort while managing IBS or following a Low FODMAP diet can feel intimidating. You want to indulge in the magic, but not the bloating, discomfort, or guesswork that sometimes comes with unfamiliar ingredients.
During my recent stay at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside, I kept things simple by sticking to River Mill Food Court, the resort’s quick-service dining spot. And surprisingly? It worked. I left feeling satisfied, not sidelined, and even found a treat that didn’t wreck my gut.
Here’s what a day (and a half!) of low FODMAP eating at Port Orleans looked like for me:
Check-Out Day Breakfast: The Bounty Platter
On my last morning, I ordered the Bounty Platter, a surprisingly satisfying and mostly FODMAP-friendly option.
What was on the plate:
Scrambled eggs
Bacon
Sausage
Tater tots
Why it worked:
Eggs, bacon, and sausage are typically safe in small portions—though the sausage may contain trace garlic or onion (I had no issues, but sensitive folks, ask!)
Tater tots were golden and delicious, and didn't seem to contain onion powder
It filled me up for the drive home and didn’t leave me bloated or uncomfortable
Pro tip: If you’re extra sensitive, you can request the meal without sausage or confirm ingredients with a Cast Member.
Hydration Is Half the Magic
Let’s not forget water. I drank a lot of it during this trip, and I swear it made all the difference, especially with the warmer weather and heavier protein intake.
Lunch: Grilled Salmon and White Rice

At lunch, I went with a gut-friendly classic, grilled salmon with white rice. No sauces, no sides.
Why it worked:
Simple, clean protein and carbs
No garlic, no dairy, no flare-ups
Light enough to keep exploring, filling enough to last
Dinner: Bacon Cheeseburger on a Gluten-Free Bun

This one felt like a real Disney win. I was able to order a bacon cheeseburger on a gluten-free bun, no sauces, no onion.
Why it worked:
Gluten-free bun held together surprisingly well
Classic comfort food that didn’t set off any symptoms
Filled that craving for something fun without going off plan
Dessert: Gluten-Free Brownie
Yes, you can still have dessert. I picked up a gluten-free brownie from the grab-and-go cooler and enjoyed every bite.
Why it worked (for me):
No FODMAP triggers on the label
Fudgy, rich, and portion-controlled
A perfect sweet note to end the day
Final Thoughts from The Magical Gut
Disney dining with IBS or a Low FODMAP lifestyle isn’t always easy, but it is possible. Port Orleans Riverside made it manageable. The River Mill Food Court was accommodating, and by choosing simple, straightforward meals and asking a few questions, I was able to enjoy every bite and feel good after.
Whether it’s a clean protein lunch, a modified burger dinner, or a classic breakfast platter, you don’t have to miss out on the magic. Just plan ahead, hydrate, and most importantly, listen to your gut.
